Dothan National League 9u team headed to World Series

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – Dothan National League’s 9u All Stars team is headed to the World Series.

The team earned an invitation to compete at the 2024 Diamond Youth Baseball World Series in Laurel, Mississippi where they’ll face 23 teams from 11 different states.

The “9u Rookies” competed in the 2024 Alabama State Diamond Youth Baseball Tournament in Prattville where they placed State Runner-Up. That title earned the team one of only two spots to represent Alabama in the World Series.

“Our team is proud to represent Dothan at the Diamond Youth Baseball World Series, and these young athletes have learned so many valuable lessons along the way about sportsmanship, respect, and the value of hard work,” head coach Noah Jenkins said.

The community can support the team’s journey through sponsorships and fundraisers. Money will be used for travel and accommodation as well as tournament fees. A fundraiser will be held at Beef O’Brady’s in Dothan on Thursday, July 11 from 4 p.m. tp 10 p.m.

Be sure to follow their journey on the “Dothan National 9u Baseball Team” Facebook page.
