Double Trouble Entertainment prepares for Marquette’s annual New Year’s Eve ball drop
MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – Preparations are coming along for the upcoming New Year’s Eve ball drop in Marquette.
Double Trouble Entertainment has hosted the free event for years, and organizers are excited to continue the tradition.
This year, the family-friendly block party returns at 6 p.m., and the ball drops at 7 p.m. Double Trouble Entertainment Operations and Production Manager Katherine Marsh says it’s a great option for a safer community event.
She says the Ball Drop Bash begins around 10 or 10:30 p.m., with the classic New Year’s Eve ball drop happening at midnight.
“Marquette’s got a lot of pride,” Marsh said. “The U.P. has a lot of pride, so why not have all that pride and joy together to wrap up the year, and celebrate everything that this community has done? So, we like to bring the party, bring that big celebration for everyone to enjoy.”
Marsh says the party wouldn’t be the same without sponsors offering fun light-up sticks. She says there’s also a new rig and set-up for the drop.
Marsh and her team will work a 20-hour day on Tuesday to set up for the special event.
She says the 100 block of West Washington will be blocked off to traffic starting around 5:30 p.m.
