Dow down nearly 200 points as traders await September jobs report
U.S. stocks opened lower on Thursday as traders assessed the latest batch of labor-market data ahead of the highly anticipated September jobs report.
Tensions in the Middle East continued to weigh on stocks while boosting crude-oil prices, as investors awaited Israel’s response to an Iranian strike earlier this week.

The S&P 500 was off by 13 points, or 0.2%, at 5,696.
The Dow was off by 186 points, or 0.4%, at 42,013.
The Nasdaq Composite was down 36 points, or 0.2%, at 17,890.
