‘Dracula’ glides at Orpheum Theater for New Orleans Ballet production
Pointed fangs en pointe?
Indeed, just in time for Halloween, New Orleans Ballet Theatre captures the essence of the most famous blood-sucker for a riveting work of “Dracula” at the Orpheum Theater through Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday.
Choreographer Oliver Halkowich draws upon Bram Stoker’s legendary dark prince to tell the story of the love, passion and death through dance.
The production blends musical genres and “will transport you into a world of seduction, lust, and forbidden desire and our eternal obsession over good versus bad,” notes the press information.
The work focuses on Jonathan Harker, summoned to the Count’s castle, and his exploration of his own darkness and relationship to Mina. Josh Reynolds dances as Dracula.
Tickets for the production start at $38.50. It runs at 8 p.m. Saturday and Wednesday and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday. Visit neworleansballettheatre.com.
