Dragon Age: The Veilguard Breaks EA’s Concurrent Players Record

The first batch of players has given the game a positive review score, with 77% recommending it for its fluid and intensive combat, stunning visuals like beautiful environments, and amazing hair physics. However, some critics feel the game misses the core elements of previous Dragon Age titles, mentioning issues in character design, story, and dialogue that fail to relate to the franchise. Other than that, there have been reports of the game constantly crashing during shader compilation and it won’t work properly on the Steam Deck despite it claiming to be verified. 

The Veilguard’s successful beginning was no surprise for EA, as during the Q2 earnings call held earlier this week, CEO Andrew Wilson said he “certainly think(s) Veilguard has breakout potential.” The IP’s strong performance — its last title, Dragon Age: Inquisition, was Game of the Year — combined with the “limited competition” thanks to “some of the moves that have happened across the broader industry” are what contribute to his confidence.
