Dublin softball takes one step closer to Little League World Series with win over Quartz Hill
Following up on a massive win at the state championship, the Dublin 12s Little League Softball Team is on a nine-game winning streak — including postseason — after beating Southern California’s Quartz Hill, 7-3, on Saturday at the Little League West Region Tournament in San Bernardino.
Dublin will continue challenging the West Region’s top brass Sunday morning in Game 2 against Washington Little League of Utah. If they win this week’s tournament, Dublin will earn a spot in the World Series in Greenville, North Carolina this August.
The team represents the only softball program in the League’s Tri-Valley district, said Dublin Little League VP of Softball Jean Toler. DLL formed the softball division in 2022, and this is their first 12s team to qualify for the West Region tournament. Last year’s 12s got close, earning second place to Almaden Little League from San Jose.
While Little League International foots the bill to send the young athletes to the World Series, the team has started a GoFundMe to help fund their travel costs while competing in San Bernardino.
Nearly all of the team’s players attend Dublin’s Wells Middle School together, while another attends Christensen Middle School in Livermore.
You can watch Dublin as they face Utah tomorrow at 9 a.m., live on ESPN+, or follow the play-by-play on Game Changer’s smartphone app. Games continue every day through Thursday, July 26th.
The West Region tournament includes six teams:
Arizona – Wilcox Little League
Hawaii – Honolulu Little League
Nevada – Washoe Little League
Northern California – Dublin Little League
Southern California – Quartz Hill Little League
Utah – Washington Little League
