EA Sports College Football 25: Georgia Bulldogs team preview

The wait is almost over! EA Sports College Football 25 is set to release on Friday, July 19. 247Sports is proud to be the exclusive media group to get early access to playing the game. To make sure fans are ready for the launch of EA Sports College Football 25, we’re previewing some of the top teams in the video game. Today we are kicking things off with one of the most dominant programs in recent years – the Georgia Bulldogs.

Dawgs247 team expert Jordan D. Hill has you covered with a Q&A session to get you ready to play with UGA in College Football 25. Jordan will pinpoint everything you need to know about the Georgia Bulldog roster from impact players to choosing the best offensive and defensive playbooks and highlighting key games on the 2024 football schedule.

Which impact players should fans be choosing for Georgia when they pick up the controller?

The easiest answer is quarterback Carson Beck (93 overall), but he’ll have plenty of good options around him on offense, too. Dominic Lovett should be the Bulldogs’ top-rated receiver, and I imagine Trevor Etienne will have game-breaking ability at running back. I’d also keep an eye on tight end Benjamin Yurosek, who has the experience to pick up where Brock Bowers left off for the Bulldogs.

Defensive end Mykel Williams (93 overall) would be my pick on defense, with safety Malaki Starks (95 overall) and linebacker Jalon Walker right behind him.

What are the best offensive and defensive playbooks to use with Georgia?

I would go with a shotgun, 3-receiver, 1-back set with this Georgia offense. The Bulldogs are deep at tight end again, but I think they’ll be at their most dangerous with Lovett, Colbie Young, and Dillon Bell all on the field together. Let Beck cook airing the ball out while also getting Etienne going on the ground.

I’d go with a nickel look with this Georgia defense. I’d get Williams going off the edge, let Smael Mondon and CJ Allen patrol the middle of the defense, and count on Starks to track down balls in the back of the defense.

When playing year one of dynasty mode with Georgia, what game should fans circle on the schedule?

I think video game Clemson is better than actual Clemson, so you better have your difficulty level honed in before getting going in Week 1. The other big games of note are at Alabama and at Texas, which will be as nerve wracking on the sticks as they will be in real life.

What should your strategy be with Georgia to put them in a position to win a national title within a few years?

Will running the ball in this year’s game be easier than in years’ past? If so, I would emphasize staying balanced. It will be tempting to let ‘er rip with Beck, but I think gamers’ INT numbers are going to go up quite a bit with the new throwing mechanics. Keep Etienne and the other backs regularly involved, work in some screens from time to time, and keep the defenses on their toes throughout the season.

As for defense, get good at rushing the passer, control Williams, and wreck shop.

What is the first play you are calling to start the season?

Four Verticals in the Shotgun Trips Y-Flex formation has bailed me out of so many bad spots over the years. We’re going to test this new game from the jump and see if this play provides the easy 20 yards that so many of us used to count on.

247Sports’ Bud Elliott, also of the Cover3 podcast, had this to say about UGA in the game.

“Playing as Georgia in EA Sports College Football 25 is going to be a blast! Imagine taking control of Carson Beck, zipping passes downfield or running behind maybe the best offensive line in college football. On defense, it is speed everywhere. You’ll have Smael Mondon Jr. and Malaki Starks, who can shut down any offense with their speed and skill. With such a talented roster, leading the Bulldogs to victory will be an exciting challenge that keeps you hooked game after game.”

In 2013, Bud created the Blue Chip Ratio — a breakdown of programs that have done well enough on the recruiting trail to actually win the College Football Playoff. You will be able to see Bud’s ratio in the game.

EA College Football 25 will be available on July 19. For more team previews, check out 247Sports and CBSSports.com over the coming week.
