El Paso boxer Stephanie Han to fight for WBA lightweight title on Feb. 22

El Paso lightweight boxer Stephanie Han will fight for the World Boxing Association lightweight title on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the El Paso County Coliseum.

Han, the top-ranked contender, does not have an opponent yet but said that she will fight someone in the top 10 rankings.

The lightweight division is contested at 135 pounds. Katie Taylor held the WBA title but has moved up to 140 pounds.

Han is 9-0 in her career and last July, she defeated Miranda Reyes for the WBA Intercontinental championship in her biggest fight to date.

Tickets are available at El Paso County Coliseum Events.

Han will join her sister, Jennifer, as a world champion if she wins the world title. Jennifer, who is retired, is a former featherweight titleholder.

“This a tremendous opportunity for me,” Han said. “I’m even more motivated than ever to bring home a world championship. I’ve already been back in the gym getting ready and this will be the biggest fight in my career.”
