El Paso Winterfest 2024 returns with parade, tree lighting and entertainment Nov. 23

Get ready for San Jacinto Plaza to turn into Winter Wonderland for this year’s holiday season.

The City of El Paso Winterfest 2024 will hold its lights parade and Christmas tree lighting on Nov. 23.

The seasonal festival starts the weekend before Thanksgiving, November 23, through January 5, 2025.

The rink will be at the Convention Center Plaza in Downtown El Paso and it costs $12 to skate.

Hours of operation:

  • Monday – Thursday: 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Fridays: 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • Sundays: 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Sensory Hours

  • Saturday, November 23: First hour of skating
  • Monday-Thursday from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • During this time, we will provide a calm and comfortable environment to ensure an inclusive experience for all guests.

Holiday Hours

  • Thanksgiving Weekdays: 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Thanksgiving Day: 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Winter Break (Dec 23 – Jan 3): 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Christmas Eve: 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Christmas Day: 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • New Year’s Eve – CLOSED
  • New Year’s Day – 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

There will also be holiday performances by various artists and groups from around the region.

The schedule of the performances has not been posted yet.

You can also take pictures with Santa from 6 p.m to 9 p.m. every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at San Jacinto Plaza beginning on November 29 through December 22. The Photo Station provides on-the-spot pictures straight to your phone free of charge (no appointments needed).

The Scherr Legate WinterFest Lights Parade will be held on Nov. 23 at 6 p.m.

Throughout the season, San Jacinto Plaza and the surrounding downtown area are covered with more than 1 million lights, oversized decorations, and a 55-ft holiday tree. The season includes an outdoor ice-skating rink, winter-themed attractions and family-friendly programs.

Winterfest began in 2015 with a holiday tree lighting ceremony in San Jacinto Plaza, as well as the Scherr Legate WinterFest Lights Parade, followed by a festive concert.

WinterFest has become a tradition in the community.
