Elden Ring Fans Create Fashion Souls Website To Make Playing Dress Up Even Easier
Key Takeaways
- Fashion Souls is a key part of any FromSoftware game, but after 15 years, we finally have an entire website dedicated to it.
- One fan has put together an invaluable resource that lets you view the gear of every single Souls game (including Elden Ring and Bloodborne).
- You can find armour and weapons with a similar colour palette, or filter by colour directly, making it easier to put together cohesive outfits.
Being good at Elden Ring is one thing, but looking good? That’s a skill in its own right.
Sure, you can get bogged down in the minutia of individual stats, finding the best possible poise or individual defenses to counter each boss, but that only really matters if you’re getting hit a lot. For those who have mastered dodging, all you need to worry about is style.
This has been true since gaming immemorial, but in the world of Soulslikes, it has taken on a life of its own as ‘Fashion Souls‘.
The idea is to make the best outfit so that other players can see what a stud you are. Just look at Let Me Solo Her’s simple but now-iconic silhouette, or the invader who went viral for judging people’s outfits. But putting together such a striking costume can be difficult. Thankfully, one fan has created an entire website to help out.
How The Website Works
Upon opening the website (which currently only works on desktop – you can visit it by clicking the link here), you’ll be prompted with six cards for each game: Elden Ring, Bloodborne, Dark Souls 1-2-3, and Demon’s Souls.
Click one of these cards and you’ll be taken to an inventory of every weapon and armour piece from their respective game. You can filter by colour, similarity, and what slot it goes into. Or, you can just use the search bar.
This will help you match different gear sets that have similar styles, patterns, and colour palettes. However, it’s a little barebones right now as you can’t see how to get the gear or view it on a model, but this is something that creator psyopgirl says that they’ve “thought of implementing”.
Regardless, being able to quickly see what items flow well with other items is a huge step up for Fashion Souls, and should make diving back into these games to play dress up that much easier.
With worldbuilding from Game of Thrones scribe George R.R. Martin and developed by FromSoftware, Elden Ring is a masterpiece in what has become known as the ‘Soulslike’ genre of action role-playing games.
