Elizabethton business owners continue to feel economic impact following Helene
ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WCYB) — Elizabethton business owners are continuing to feel the economic impact of Helene after the storm caused the closure of the Broad Street Bridge.
The closure has led to heavy traffic downtown, pushing some customers away.
Tammy Troutman, owner of Eagle Center Antiques, said that while business has been slow, there is hope for improvement during the Christmas season.
“I’m hoping that people won’t shy away from downtown because the traffic has increased due to one of our bridges being out,” Troutman said. “But I’m hoping that people will come on down. There is still plenty of places to park in the city parking lots and even though traffic is busy, it’s still very doable and we are still here waiting to serve you and help you with your Christmas shopping needs.”
