Ella Romano walks off in grand fashion, moving on to next phase of life

PARRISH, Fla. (WWSB) – Ella Romano is capping off her senior season and high school career with an epic walk off moment.

She hit the game winning single that helped bring in the winning run to clinch back-to-back state titles for the lady bulls. She spoke with ABC7 about what her mindset was when she was coming up the plate for this moment.

“I don’t like to think a lot,” Romano said. “I’m very calm. I like to stay composed. What I’m best at is I see ball, hit ball. That’s all that I think about. As long as watch what I’m doing, I know what I have to do to get a hit.”

It’s also a bittersweet time. Romano is preparing to head off to college at the College of Coastal Georgia. She says she’s going to miss Parrish and the Suncoast community. She has words of wisdom that she’d like to leave behind for those who still have some time left to go.

“I’d say in the classroom, stay on it,” Romano said. “Don’t let yourself go out and and want to do something else when you know you need to get stuff done. You have to keep those grades up. Softball wise, I just want to make sure people know that you have to stay calm and collected. Don’t think too much about what you’re doing.”

Romano, her teammates and her coaches joined ABC7 live in studio on Tuesday for a talkback interview with ABC7 Sports Executive Producer, Xavier McKnight to reminisce and reflect on their 2024 championship season. You can watch that below.
