Emma Raducanu partners with fitness coach Yutaka Nakamura—This is what she said!
Emma Raducanu has officially added Yutaka Nakamura, a highly respected fitness coach known for his work with tennis stars Maria Sharapova and Naomi Osaka, to her team.
This strategic move marks a significant step in Raducanu‘s efforts to maximize her athletic potential and overcome recurring injuries.
Raducanu, now 22, will commence her preparations for the upcoming season with warm-weather training in Brisbane next week.
She has confirmed that Nakamura will accompany her “pretty much most weeks” throughout the year, offering consistent support and expertise.
Since her historic US Open victory in 2021 as a teenager, Raducanu’s career has been hindered by injuries.
However, after a successful trial with Nakamura earlier this autumn, she is confident that his guidance will unlock a new level of athletic performance.
“I think he is going to help me just really explore how far I can go, like athletically,” Raducanu said.
“I think it’s a big strength of mine that I have nowhere near fulfilled. I think I can become one of the best athletes out there in tennis and I’m just looking forward to seeing how much I can do.”
“My natural athleticism is something that I have to use. I have to hone it, I have to polish it, it’s still pretty raw and I don’t think anywhere near fully developed so he’s going to help me explore that.”
