Emmys 2024 to Be Produced by Jesse Collins Entertainment for the Second Year in a Row (EXCLUSIVE)

Jesse Collins Entertainment is back for an Emmys encore. ABC and the Television Academy are set to announce that the production company has been tapped to serve as producers of this year’s 76th edition of the Primetime Emmy awards.

This past January, Jesse Collins Entertainment pulled off something rare: In a world where awards shows rarely get rave reviews, the company earned high marks for producing the 75th Emmys (which had been delayed due to the Hollywood strikes). Now, just a few months later, they’re ready for more.

“Jesse Collins Entertainment delivered a fresh, innovative and unforgettable celebration of Emmy’s 75th anniversary, and we are happy to be working with them again this year,” said Television Academy chair Cris Abrego. “We look forward to another extraordinary evening celebrating the rich and diverse television landscape, and honoring the remarkable people and programs shaping our industry.”

No host has been named as of yet, but the news means that for a second consecutive year, Collins will once again executive produce with Dionne Harmon and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay of Jesse Collins Entertainment.

“We’re lucky to have had many opportunities over the years to collaborate with Jesse Collins and his exceptional team, and are thrilled to reunite for television’s biggest night,” said Rob Mills, executive vice president, unscripted and alternative entertainment, Walt Disney Television. “Jesse produced an all-time great Emmy Awards earlier this year, and we are excited for him to raise the bar with the upcoming show.”

The “76th Emmy Awards” will air live from the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on ABC. The event will then stream the next day on Hulu.

“We are honored to return to produce the 76th Emmy Awards,” Collins, Harmon and Rouzan-Clay said in a joint statement. “We truly look forward to working with Cris and reuniting with Rob, everyone at the Television Academy and ABC to create another unforgettable Emmy broadcast.”

The news comes as the TV Academy and ABC prep for this Wednesday’s nominations announcement. Emmy winners Sheryl Lee Ralph and Tony Hale have signed on to announce this year’s Emmy nominations, live on July 17, at 8:30 a.m. PT from Disney’s El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. The nominations reveal will stream live on the Emmys website, via Emmys.com/nominations.

Collins and Harmon were among the exec producers who won an Emmy in 2022 for “The Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show Starring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent,” which was named outstanding variety special (live).

Their credits also include the Oscars, Grammys, American Music Awards and BET Awards.

Collins, the founder/CEO of Jesse Collins Entertainment, produced the 2021 Oscars, and is also an executive producer for the Grammy Awards and Golden Globes.  Harmon, also executive producer of all Jesse Collins Entertainment programming and the Golden Globes, is president of the shingle, while Rouzan-Clay is senior vice president of specials and serves as executive producer.

The company is also behind scripted projects such as “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” “American Soul” and miniseries like “The New Edition Story” and “The Bobby Brown Story.” Jesse Collins Entertainment has also produced unscripted fare including “Cardi Tries,” “My Killer Body with K. Michelle,” “Becoming A Popstar” and “Rhythm + Flow.”

Other specials have included the American Music Awards, BET Awards, Soul Train Awards, BET Hip Hop Awards, Black Girls Rock!, BET Honors, UNCF’s An Evening of Stars and ABFF Honors. There’s also CNN’s “Juneteenth: A Global Celebration of Freedom,” “A Grammy Salute to the Sounds of Change,” “Stand Up for Heroes,” “Dear Mama,” “Amanda Seales: I Be Knowin’,” “Def Comedy Jam 25”; “Leslie Jones: Time Machine,” “The All-Star Nickmas Spectacular” and “Rip the Runway.”

Collins was also selected as Variety’s 2022 Hitmakers executive of the year.

Jesse Collins Entertainment took over the Emmy telecast from Done+Dusted and Hudlin Entertainment, which had jointly produced the Emmys in 2020, 2021 and 2022, the first two of which were COVID-impacted events. D+D had actually produced the Emmys for five consecutive years, having already been producing the Emmys telecast for two years when it was paired with Hudlin in 2020 to handle the unconventional, no-audience COVID-impacted Emmys.
