Engineering firm to create 55 jobs with consolidation, expansion in Delta Township
LANSING – An engineering company is expanding and consolidating its operations to a facility in Delta Township, the Lansing Economic Area Partnership said Monday.
Matrix Consulting Engineers Inc., a mechanical and electrical engineering firm, will invest $5 million in the effort and create 55 new jobs over the next three years.
The company said it is consolidating “several locations to a new office building in Delta Township.”
The company, founded in 1999, has offices on E. Cesar E. Chavez Ave. in Lansing, S. Creyts Road in Delta Township and in Grand Rapids, according to its website.
The new location at 544 Cherbough is located off St. Joe Highway, between Creyts and Snow roads.
“Matrix is excited to announce our new, larger office at 544 Cherbourg in Lansing. We now will have both of our Lansing locations under one roof after operating in two separate Lansing offices for the past year,” said Craig Trierweiler president at Matrix Consulting Engineers. “This shows our commitment to growing with our staff and clients.”
The company plans to hire engineering professionals, and the Lansing Economic Area Partnership said the expansion will create new jobs for Michigan State University graduates among others.
The company received a 10-year commercial rehabilitation exemption certificate from Delta Township, LEAP said in a statement.
“Growing high wage/four-year degreed jobs, especially this many engineering jobs, in our community, is a major priority and we are thankful to Matrix for making this choice and we are also grateful to Delta Township for their amazing work to make this building and investment happen,” .” said Bob Trezise, president and CEO of LEAP. “LEAP worked very hard, for a year, to put together with our partners the necessary incentive package and other work.”
Delta Township Manager Brian Reed said Matrix invested $1 million in a building that was long vacant, and the company will save about $100,000 in local property taxes over the next decade.
“The new headquarters will provide the company with an ideal location for continued growth and the professional services they offer will complement the thriving office, commercial, and industrial sectors in Delta Township,” Reed said in a release.
The company is also considering additional support through the state of Michigan and is slated to officially open its new doors in the summer of 2025.
