Entertainment: Awards date & submissions for Hoku Awards and Lifetime Achievement Awards 2026

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The date has been set for Hawaii’s Biggest Music night of the year! It was posted online by the Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts. Next Na Hoku Hanohano Awards are going to be June 21, 2025 at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel. Tickets not on sale yet, we’ll let you know, but just wanted to make sure that date in on your calendar. We should also mention that submissions for nominations for 2024; the deadline is December 31, 2024. Speaking of the Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts. They are also looking for nominations for the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Awards! Recording Artists, Musicians, Entertainers, composers, Music Industry Veterans which includes record producers, engineers, educators, writers and radio personalities. Deadline is January 31, 2025. A Hawaii native is being recognized — for his rising career in entertainment. Kekoa Scott Keku-mano accepted the “Rising Star Award” at the 3rd annual Critics Choice Celebration of A-A-P-I cinema and television honorees in Los Angeles! It’s in recognition of his performance in “Rescue HI Surf” — the new Fox series filmed on Oahu’s North Shore. You may also know Keku-mano from his role in Season One of “The White Lotus.” Some other notable honorees include –Ronny Chieng… with the “Comedy Award”; Christina Chen, Dana Ledoux Miller, and David Derrick… with the “Animation Award” for work on Moana 2.

Ciana Leina’ala Lacy is the Emmy-nominated writer and director of the “The Queen’s Flowers”. The animated short film is positioned to be a strong contender for an Oscar nomination this year. The short film has already pulled in 7 awards from film festivals around the world. The film follows a young native Hawaiian girl named Emma in 1915. She embarks on a quest to create a special gift for Queen Lili’uokalani, Hawaii’s last reigning monarch. It’s is being screened this week in Philadelphia and San Diego at film festivals. It was screened at HIFF in Hawaii this past October.
