Entertainment critic Derek Sante checks out Jim Henson documentary, ‘The Dead Don’t Hurt’

Swiping over to Disney+, we turn to a documentary filled with heart and nostalgia, called “Jim Henson: Idea Man.”

Directed by Ron Howard, this film takes an in-depth look at the man who created “Sesame Street,” The Muppets, “Labyrinth,” “Dark Crystal” and much more.

Creativity and kindness seeped from this man, and he still has many generations asking, “Why are there so many songs about Rainbows?”

This documentary is worth the watch this weekend. It gets an A from me.

Moving from happy and light to gruesome and gory, we move on to the horror film “In a Violent Nature.”

A mixture of many slasher films, this movie had many Sundance Festival viewers cringing before it moved to local theaters.

This horror film has some very memorable moments — and some possible nightmares as well — as you follow along with the killer in a POV style. Grade: B-

Also in theaters, comes a film from actor, writer and director Viggo Mortenson, “The Dead Don’t Hurt.”

A French-Canadian man and wife explore the U.S. countryside and look for a chance at a new life in Nevada.

Things take a turn though when the husband enlists in the war, and while he’s gone, his wife is unprotected and must try and fight the wolves of the West.

For those who enjoy true-to-life western stories, this film lives in the same category as “Unforgiven” and screams with talent as Vicky Krieps and Mortenson deliver unfathomable weight.
