‘Escape From Tarkov’ Teases New Boss Arriving In The Upcoming Wipe

As we get closer to the next Escape From Tarkov wipe the developers are starting to tease some new additions, with the latest seemingly being a new in game boss who can lay traps to take you out.

In a post on the official Escape From Tarkov social media accounts an image of a new character in Escape From Tarkov was posted with just the text “Partisan.” However, the image seems to feature a number of teases that suggest this is in fact a new in-game boss who can lay traps to take you out.

The idea of a boss who can lay traps such as trip wires has been discussed a couple of times before by senior members of the Escape From Tarkov team, with Game Director Nikita Buyanov mentioning it during a recent TarkovTV stream. However, we had no info on what the boss may be called, what they would look like or when they would launch.

In the image posted we see an older looking man with a bird on his finger who seems to be in a wooded area, likely the Woods map. He is holding an AK rifle with a grenade launcher, but in his other hand he has a grenade with a long string attached. This is what many believe to be some kind of trip wire trap, with the string pulling out the grenade’s pin when triggered, which would line up with what has previously been said about the boss.

So with just this image we can somewhat safely assume that the new boss will be called Partisan, has trip wire grenades, a grenade launcher and an AK rifle. There is also a good chance he will be found on the Woods map, or at the very least in a wooded area somewhere in Tarkov.

The timing of the post, coming just a few days before many think the next wipe will arrive, likely means that Partisan will launch alongside the next wipe. We know that the new wipe will bring new weapons, hideout locations and a new Factory map, but it also seems we will be getting this new boss as well.

Partisan was not the only tease from the Tarkov developers today, as this morning Buyanov posted an image to X, formerly Twitter, seemingly showing a molotov cocktail being made from one of the in game beer items and some cloth. It seems that this will be added in the new wipe too, with the item likely being craftable given it is made from two items already in the game.
