Texas A&M is in the College World Series finals for the first time in program history and is set face the No. 1 seeded Tennessee (58-12) in a best of three championship series which begins Saturday.
This matchup is also the second consecutive all-SEC final and the third in the past four years.
It should come as no surprise that Texas A&M’s roster is loaded with athletes from Texas high schools — the majority of whom are from either the Dallas or Houston areas.
Here are the former DFW high school standouts on Texas A&M’s College World Series roster:
Caden Sorrell
OF, Flower Mound Marcus
The 6-3, 205-pound freshman has been a steady contributor for the Aggies all season. He is hitting .266 40 RBI, 11 homeruns and 24 walks.
In his senior season for Flower Mound Marcus Sorrell hit .347 with 7 home runs, 29 RBIs and 28 runs scored as a position player and had a 1.05 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 46.2 innings pitched on the mound. He was a first-team all-area selection by The Dallas Morning News in 2023.
Fun fact: both of his grandfathers — Billy Sorrell and Tom Griffin — played in MLB.
Ryan Prager
LHP, Hillcrest
A redshirt sophomore, Prager has been stellar on the mound for Texas A&M this season. He holds a record of 9-1 with an ERA of 2.88 and 118 strikeouts. During his last start, Prager held Kentuck hitless into the seventh inning, as the Aggies held on to win 5-1.
