Ex-Nevada star and World Series champion Lyle Overbay speaker at Bobby Dolan Dinner

Lyle Overbay, a Nevada Wolf Pack Hall of Famer and World Series champion, is the guest speaker at this year’s 40th annual Bobby Dolan Baseball Dinner.

The most accomplished player in Wolf Pack history, Overbay logged four seasons at Nevada from 1996-99 before a 14-year MLB career. He was a two-time All-Big West selection and 1999 All-American who helped the Wolf Pack win a pair of conference championships with two NCAA Regional berths.

At the close of his Nevada career, Overbay held the program’s career records for at-bats (864), runs batted in (260) and doubles (62). At Nevada, he hit .358 with 39 homers, 112 extra-base hits, 243 runs, 257 RBIs and a 1.020 OPS.

An 18th-round MLB draft pick by Arizona, Overbay made his big-league debut with the team in 2001 when the Diamondbacks won the World Series. Overbay was traded to Milwaukee in 2004, paving the way for a long run as a starter in the majors. Overbay also played for Toronto, Pittsburgh, Atlanta and the New York Yankees. In 1,587 games, he hit .266 with 151 homers, 356 doubles and 675 RBIs. Overbay led the majors in double with 53 in 2004.

The Bobby Dolan Baseball Dinner is Wolf Pack baseball’s biggest annual fundraiser. This year’s event is Feb. 6 with registration ending Feb. 1. The event will be held at The Row Reno Ballroom. with tickets starting at $200 for general admission and $350 for VIP, which includes a meet-and-greet with Overbay. Tables of 10 are available for $2,000 at the GA rate and $3,500 for VIP. Tickets are available here.

The event begins with a VIP reception at 4:30 p.m. with cocktail hour beginning at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m.
