F45 Teams Up With Rep Fitness to Add Functional Racks

The F45 Athletic team has developed over 400 new exercises to enhance workouts with the Functional Racks and cable system

Boutique fitness leader F45 Training has partnered with strength and conditioning-focused gym equipment supplier Rep Fitness to introduce Functional Racks in participating F45 studios worldwide.

It’s the latest initiative from the Mark Wahlberg-backed functional fitness franchise, which has been revitalized under CEO Tom Dowd, who took the reins last March.

The Functional Racks enhance F45’s signature strength training method while expanding fitness programming options for cable-based exercises with its AthenaTM cable system. The system also features power racks, barbells, and landmines and has inspired the development of over 400 new exercises tailored to the functional racks and cable system.

“At F45 Training, we’re committed to delivering world-class innovation to help our members achieve their fitness goals,” Dowd said. “The introduction of the Functional Racks enhances the strength training component of our programming while staying true to our functional training style. Strength training plays a vital role in improving overall health, supporting mobility, and contributing to long-term wellness, making this an exciting evolution for our global community.”

F45 says that members can expect to see the Functional Racks in participating studios as the global rollout continues over the next six months.

“We’re excited to partner with F45 on such a game-changing addition to their studios,” Rep Fitness co-CEO Ryan McGrotty said. “At Rep, our mission is to empower individuals of all ages and backgrounds to live life on their own terms through the strength they gain from training. This partnership perfectly aligns with that vision. Together, we are elevating the fitness journey and redefining strength training in group fitness environments.”

F45 studios that incorporate the Rep Functional Racks will gain access to a new programming tier, which includes updated floor layouts, revamped timing structures, and workout formats.

While F45 continues to add more value for its strength-committed members and franchisees, Dowd recently teased that the franchisor is working on a new name that encapsulates his vision to become the solution headquarters for all things health and wellness. It’s a mission that has already begun to unfold, with Recovery by F45, integrating cold plunge tubs, infrared saunas, and percussive therapy equipment into participating studios.

“We’re pretty excited about – we’re almost there with finding [a name] we can use across the world because we’re in almost 70 countries,” Dowd said. “We want to be the solution headquarters. We’re partnering with other businesses because we want to provide content, we want to tap into their membership base, we want to share and cross-pollinate our marketing efforts. And so far, it’s working as planned, if not better.”

Last month, F45 forged a collaboration with Samsung, bringing its signature workout fitness to Samsung Daily+ users, giving them free access to F45’s library of cardio, strength, hybrid, and recovery offerings and providing F45 massive reach on all Samsung TVs and future releases.
