Factory raided, 10 arrested for gambling, ~7.64 lakh seized – The Tribune
A gambling den being run in an ice factory located at Peelibanga in Hanumangarh has been busted.
Superintendent of Police Arshad Ali said that late last night the police surrounded an ice factory in Peelibanga from all sides and caught 10 people gambling on the premises. Total gambling money of Rs 7.64 lakh was seized from the possession of the suspects who had come from different areas, including two towns of Haryana.
The SP said that the suspects were identified as Fazaluddin, Ravinder Arora, Purushottam Das Agarwal, Rajinder Soni, Ashok Oswal, Yunus Ali, Hemraj Agarwal, Surinder Singh Mehta, Mandeep Arora and Naresh Sharma.
According to police sources, a gambling den was being run in this factory for a long time, but local officials preferred to look the other way. The newly appointed SP on receiving information about this formed a team under the District Special Team (DST) Sub-Inspector Gajendra Sharma.
Meanwhile, a cricket bookie has also arrested in the same town. The SP said Chander Prakash Arora had been rented a room by Royal Colony resident Fajruddin. When the police raided last night, Chander Prakash was betting reportedly on the match of Women’s Cricket T-20 World Cup.
The police recovered 10 mobile phones, one keypad mobile phone, three laptops, one communication exchange briefcase, two mics, two extension electricity boards and documents of cricket betting accounts showing gambling details of Rs 6-7 lakh.
The SP said a case had been registered against Chander Prakash under Section 3/4 of the Rajasthan Prevention of Gambling Act, besides Section 66 (D) of the IT Act. The matter would be further investigated by Inspector Dharampal Singh.
