Fall Fashion Gems: The Skirt, Boots and Sweater That Take My Wardrobe to the Next Level
This post is sponsored by Nordstrom.
I always get mixed feelings when fall fashion rolls around—I’m a little excited, a little confused, and a little annoyed. Some trends? Totally ridiculous (I’ll let you guess which ones). But I do actually get excited once I weed through all the stuff that just isn’t my vibe to find those pieces I genuinely LOVE.
My style leans a bit more glam and sexy, but my day-to-day is usually pretty casual (like, decidedly not fancy), so I like versatile pieces that can easily be dressed up or down. Oh, and comfort is an absolute MUST for me. So when I’m refreshing my wardrobe for fall, I’m on the hunt for things that have a little bit of sex appeal, can be styled up or down and are super comfortable.
Fall Wardrobe Refresh: Stripes, Leopard & Red Make The Perfect Combo
This outfit is the perfect example of finding new pieces I love for fall. I’ll definitely be wearing them separately all season, but somehow they just work so well together, too. Normally, I wouldn’t think to pair stripes, leopard print and red all in one look… but it totally works! It’s different than anything I’d usually go for, and I’m so here for it.

The Perfect Ribbed Sweater Skirt for Comfort and Style

I was SO excited to find this gem of a skirt. Ribbed sweater skirts have always been a favorite of mine—so comfy, flattering and the stretchy fabric hugs curves without feeling too tight. The ruching on this one makes it super forgiving and camouflages lumps and bumps and cellulite, while the slit adds some serious sexiness. I love the way it’s styled on the model (with that low-slung belt!) but I like dressing it down a bit with a sweater or graphic tee. I tried this one in a medium and small, and while both would work because of the stretchy material, I ended up going with a small for the length.
Red Boots: The Bold Statement Piece of the Season

But let’s be real—the real star of this outfit? These RED BOOTS. I’m completely obsessed. Red boots can take any outfit up a notch, and bold pops of red are all over the place this fall. What makes these so good is the perfect rich shade of red—not too bright, not too “clown shoes,” just right. They actually remind me of those Givenchy shark lock boots I’ve been lusting after since the 2010s… but for much, much less.
A Versatile Sweater To Wear All Season Long

This sweater is one I’ve already worn multiple–multiple–times in the two weeks I’ve had it. I wore it over wide leg jeans when going out to dinner with mom, with high rise denim shorts when I took the kids to get ice cream… it just works for everything. From casual to a bit more dressed up, it’s turned out to be way more versatile than I expected. It’s the perfect balance of casual but put-together, with that sexy little shoulder peek adding just the right touch.

I love how the models are styling this sweater over a button-up (definitely saving that idea for when it gets cooler), but for now, I’m all about layering mine over my can’t-live-without Hanro cami. It’s perfect for keeping everything covered—even with the cropped style—and the barely-there straps give that same strapless bra vibe without the hassle of actually wearing one. So much more comfortable! I live in these Hanro camis during the winter under all my sweaters, and anytime I’m wearing a tricky top (like this one with an open back and crochet front). At this point, the price per wear is down to pennies for me.
A Leopard Print Bag: Fall’s Must-Have Accessory

And this AllSaints bag is the perfect pop of leopard print that, like red, is everywhere this fall. I love the print with the stripes of the sweater, and hasn’t leopard and red always been a perfect combination? I like the thicker crossbody strap that keeps things hands-free and casual, but it can also be detached to use the bag as a clutch for “fancier” times. It’s just big enough for my phone/cards/lipgloss and the fabric is easy to care for. (Better than suede or faux suede, IMO.)
Happy fall fashion ya’ll! (Sorry. Couldn’t help myself. Excuse me while I go buy myself a pumpkin-spiced…something.)
XOXO,
Scotti
