Fallen World War II soldier’s remains returned to western Mass
WINDSOR, Conn. (WGGB/WSHM) – On Thursday evening, a fallen World War Two soldier’s remains were brought home to western Mass. Members of his family were part of a procession leading them from Bradley International Airport to Springfield.
U.S. Army Private Kwack K. Woo’s next of kin live here in Springfield, and we got the opportunity to speak with one of the family members.
We’re told he was a California native when he enlisted in the war in 1943.
Just two years later, he was killed in action on February 9, 1945, at the age of 31.
Western Mass News spoke with Private Woo’s granddaughter, Celinda Woo, who told us the family did not know much about her grandfather for a long time, so they are happy they can finally be reunited.
“It’s honestly an honor and a blessing to bring him home and reunited with my father, our family, we never really had the opportunity to know him, but it’s nice to finally bring him home and honor his legacy,” she shared.
Private Woo will be laid to rest on September 27th at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
