Great news Fallout fans, the next-gen update for Fallout 4 finally launches today, bringing plenty of goodies and features.
All the buzz with the live-action Fallout series has led to a surge of interest in the games, with Fallout 4 in particular getting thousands of new players on Steam.
If you loved the TV series but haven’t played a Fallout game before, check out the video below for where to start!
The timing is impeccable too, as later today a new-gen update for the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S aims to give it a huge boost in performance and content.
Fans have been waiting an awfully long time for it too, as Bethesda announced the update ages ago but didn’t provide a release window.

- North America: 9am PDT / 10am MDT / 11am CDT / 12pm EDT
- Europe: 6pm CEST / 7pm EEST
- Asia/Oceania: 1am JST / 12am AWST / 2am AEST
Once downloaded, you’ll be able to take advantage of the new Quality and Performance modes, which will either give you stunning 4K visuals at an average framerate, or a sweet 60fps depending on what you pick.
Also included are the below, free, Creation Club items, themed around the Enclave faction from previous Fallout games.
- Enclave Weapon Skins
- Enclave Armour Skins
- Tesla Cannon
- Hellfire Power Armour

There are also some new weapons to craft as well as some cool stuff to create for your settlements, so check out the crafting bench at your earliest convenience.
That being said, if you don’t think Fallout 4 is your style, there’s an abundance of games waiting to be played instead, like Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, both of which can be played at a boosted framerate and resolution.
You can also hop onto Fallout 76 for some multiplayer fun, as well as claim a freebie based on the TV series.
