“Fallout” Game Sales Spike With TV Series
Just like the success of HBO’s “The Last of Us” spawned a bunch of new sales for the games, the smash launch of Amazon’s “Fallout” series has had a similar effect.
GamesIndustry.biz reports that according to GSD data, sales of the most recent single-player entry in the franchise, “Fallout 4,” increased by more than 7500% compared to the previous week on European charts.
In fact the title, which released back in 2015, found itself the best selling game across Europe last week, beating out surprise multiplayer smash “Helldivers 2” and “EA Sports FC 24”.
The boost in sales was also helped by steep discounts across the entire “Fallout” game range across various digital stores.
Indeed, three other games in the franchise also made the European top 10 – “Fallout 76” in eighth, “Fallout: New Vegas” in ninth and “Fallout 3” in tenth.
Numerous games in the series have also seen their player counts dramatically rise following the release of the TV show with Steam showing titles more than tripling its normal player count.
The Amazon Prime Video exclusive was released in full on April 12th to widespread critical acclaim and is still generating conversation.
