Fashion and craftsmanship merge at the Hudson-Mohawk Weavers’ Show

The Hudson-Mohawk Weavers’ Guild held its 46th Annual Show & Sale over the weekend.

This popular community event is one of the largest exhibits of handweaving in the country.

The Show & Sale offered a unique opportunity for the public to see and try their hand at a loom with ongoing demonstrations of spinning and weaving and Fashion shows with models of all shapes, sizes and ages walking the runway adorned in handwoven clothing.

More than 40 handweavers exhibited and sold their work in the historic setting of Pat’s Barn, with two full floors of exhibits, including housewares, décor, garments, accessories and holiday gifts.

The Show & Sale provides an abundance of inspiration, with much creativity and color on display,” Weavers’ Guild President Debbie Youngelman said. “We are excited to share our love of handmade textiles with the public, and we are ready to connect visitors with local teachers and resources for anyone wanting to start their own weaving journey.

The Hudson-Mohawk Weavers’ Guild was formed on February 22, 1972, as a special interest group for handweavers aiming to bring together handweavers. Membership is open to anyone with interest in handweaving and/or handspinning and currently stands at 140 members.
