Fashion expert slams ‘crappy’ 0k Trump watch—’they play you as a sucker’

Renowned online menswear expert Derek Guy has heavily criticized Donald Trump’s new gold watch and branded it a “crappy” product.

Republican presidential candidate Trump launched the line of watches on Truth Social on Thursday and revealed that one of his models is the gold-plated, diamond-encrusted “Trump Victory Tourbillon,” of which only 147 are available.

Each of these watches costs $100,000 and every buyer receives a signed letter from the former president. Cheaper watches are also available within the range.

Derek Guy, whose X account @dieworkwear has over 1.1 million followers, reposted Trump’s video advertisement and attacked the product as a disingenuous “halo product,” inflated in value by Trump‘s name rather than by its quality.

“I don’t understand how anyone can do this to their supporters,” Guy wrote. “This crappy $100k watch is a halo product to sell even crappier $500 and $800 non-Swiss steel and gold-plated watches with a cheap automatic movement. They play you as a sucker.”

“The goal here is just to make money, not treat people with respect and offer them something of genuine value,” he wrote.

“Buy watches from established watch brands or independent watchmakers who care more about watches than money. This sort of behavior is genuinely disgusting.”

Newsweek has contacted Trump’s campaign via email for comment.

Guy added: “$100k for a movement as smooth as the brain who buys this absurd thing.”

Trump claims the watches are high quality, going as far as to describe his Tourbillon as “one of the best watches made.”

“It has almost 200 grams of gold and more than 100 real diamonds. That’s a lot of diamonds. I love gold. I love diamonds. We all do,” the Republican presidential candidate said. “Owning one puts you in a very exclusive club.”

“Get your Trump watch right now. It’s Trump time.”

The diamond-encrusted watch is just the latest merchandising venture by Trump, blurring the lines between business and campaign fundraising.

He and his family have released $99 trading cards of his mug shot, $399 ‘Never Surrender’ Sneakers, and even brought out $59.99 God Bless the USA Bibles as part of his campaign fundraising.

Trump has sold red MAGA hats, the item of merchandise most strongly associated with his political supporters, since he campaigned for the 2016 election.

Earlier this month, he promoted World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency venture launched by his sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump.

Before becoming president, Trump had many short-lived ventures selling licensed products with his name on them, including Trump Steaks, Trump Vodka, and the Trump Mortgage.

Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris outraised and outspent Trump’s campaign in August, according to the latest Federal Election Commission filings.
