Fashion for Compassion Gala to raise funds for Aiken Equine Rescue

Hosted by White Rose Eclectics, the Fashion for Compassion Gala will showcase attire from Laurens Street establishments and celebrities. Well known Aiken models will feature clothing for both men and women.

This gala is not just about fashion. It is a fundraising event and is all about making a difference by supporting Aiken Equine Rescue and sharing the many different ways that they in turn support our Aiken community. Since its founding in 2006 they have become one of the largest horse rescues in the southeastern United States. Their mission has always been to rescue and rehabilitate horses that have suffered from abuse and neglect, re-purpose Off-the-Track Thoroughbreds, and take horses whose owners can no longer care for them.

Aiken Equine Rescue works with groups in the community to offer unique interactions with the horses.

PonyPals Camps: Children learn about horses, horse care and responsibilities in a fun, hands-on environment. More importantly, children learn core values of responsibility, patience, teamwork and compassion.

Trust & Release: An interactive equine experience program provided to those affected by trauma. Specifically developed for Active Duty, Veterans (including families), First Responders and Battered Women’s Groups.

Veterans and active-duty, Leisure Days program: Working together on projects to accomplish something together as well as share camaraderie.

County Outreach Programs: Hosting tours, dog walk groups, artist guild days, church visits, school visits, weddings, educational workshops and volunteer days.

Partnering with Sertoma Clubs: Offering hearing impaired youth an opportunity to learn about horses and horse care in a unique, interactive setting.

Martha Wise, owner of White Rose Eclectics on Lauren Street, believes supporting the community is an important part of business. She recognized that Aiken Equine Rescue excels at giving back to the community and felt she wanted to continue to also show our community’s support to their mission. She approached Aiken Equine Rescue with idea of  bringing the local businesses of Aiken together with Aiken Equine Rescue to offer our community a new fundraiser fashion show called “Fashion for Compassion Gala.” The twist to this event is that all of the models are a mix of local Aiken business owners along with local celebrities.
