Fashion icon Colman Domingo just got a brand new gig for the 2025 Met Gala

Colman Domingo is superfine!

The Emmy-winning, Oscar- and Tony-nominated actor will be co-chairing next year’s Met Gala, which is based on the Costume Institute’s upcoming exhibit Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.

Domingo will co-chair the event with driver Lewis Hamilton, rapper A$AP Rocky, musician Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour, alongside honorary chair LeBron James.

Domingo attended his first Met Gala this year, after years of killing it on red carpets. He wore a white suit with black accents and a gorgeous cape, while holding a bouquet of white lilies drafted by out fashion designer Willy Chavarria.

His outfit was in reference to the character Count Axel from the short story the Gala was themed after this year, Garden of Time.

Now, he’s already stepping up to be co-chair!

This will be the first Costume Institute exhibition to focus exclusively on menswear since 2003’s Men in Skirts.

According to Vogue, the exhibit is inspired by Monica Miller’s (Professor and Chair of Africana Studies at Barnard College) book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, and “will examine the figure of the Black dandy from its earliest depictions in 18th century art to modern-day representations from the runways and film.”

The museum exhibit will feature “garments, paintings, photographs, and more – all exploring the indelible style of Black men in the context of dandyism.”

We can’t wait to see what styles some of our fav celebs like Jeremy Pope, Law Roach, Lil Nas X, Janelle Monáe, and of course, Mr. Domingo come up with!

The dress code for the Met Gala will be announced in early 2025, and the 2025 Met Gala will take place in New York City on May 5, 2025.
