Stage 3

As riders pass the mid-point of today’s racing they face Cow Safari, a 3.76-kilometre stage with the third-largest elevation drop of 697 metres. Sascha Kim took his first stage win of the day besting Jt Fisher to the line by 2.903 seconds. Overall race leader Bailey Christie went third, 6.985 seconds back from the stage winner. Stage two winner Wei Tien Ho had a disaster on the third stage going over a minute back.

The U21 women’s third stage saw Emmy Lan return to the top of the timing sheet as she beat fellow Canadian racer Elly Hoskin by one second. Simona Kuchynkova went third, losing just under nine seconds to Lan as the top five racers were split by 39 seconds. In the overall race after three stages, Elly Hoskin maintains her lead with Emmy Lan now the closest chaser in 2nd, 16.588 seconds back.

Racing remains unpredictable for the elite women as the third stage produces another different winner. This time, it’s Isabeau Courdurier taking the top honours with a 6.5-second lead over Hattie Harnden. Ella Conolly goes third as the top three are represented by each of the stage winners so far today. Harnden holds a lead of 6.473 seconds in the overall race after three stages with Conolly in 2nd and Courdurier pulling some time back as she sits 28.945 off.

Jack Moir makes some big moves on stage three as he denies another victory for the Yeti team as he goes fastest. Not only did Moir take the stage win but his 6.5 seconds lead against Slawomir Lukasik puts him in the overall race lead by a small margin of 1.407 seconds.
