Fine Fettle opens in Macon, bringing jobs and sparking decriminalization talks

MACON, Ga. (WGXA) –Fine Fettle, a medical cannabis dispensary, opened its doors this week making it middle Georgia’s second.

Judson Hill, the Georgia Market president for the company, says they picked Macon because of a thriving economy.

“Macon absolutely has lots of colleges, universities, businesses, and we want to help rebuild Macon and be a part of the renaissance that Macon is having, create jobs in the town”, said Hill.

Fine fettle will create 200 more jobs in the county.

“We grow all our cannabis in Macon. We make all of our products in Macon so we’re not allowed to sell smoked flowers or vapes, but we do cool things like topicals for pain, pressed pills, mints”, said Hill.

Mayor Lester Miller and city leaders took a tour of the facility sharing their experience on social media

However, people saw this as an opportunity to revisit decriminalization:

According to Reform Georgia, in 2019macon-bibb passed a harm reduction ordinance that reduced the penalty for certain amounts, and instead of arrests, officers are handing out citations.

As medical cannabis businesses grow across the state other cities have also decriminalized it.

Reform Georgia reports as of September 2019, 1.2 million Georgians live in an area that has eased penalties for cannabis possession.
