Fire engulfs 2 businesses in Ogunquit’s Perkins Cove
OGUNQUIT, Maine — A fire right in the heart of Ogunquit burned and damaged two businesses badly on Saturday night.
The Ogunquit Fire Department says the fire was called in at around 7 p.m. from a citizen in the area and happened on Perkins Cove, which is home to a cluster of several businesses by the water.
When crews arrived, they discovered the buildings at 61 and 65 Perkins Cove Road were heavily involved in fire.
The Ogunquit Fire Department says the fire caused extensive damage to the business Uniques and Antiques and the Oarweed Restaurant.
Both of those businesses are located in the affected buildings.
One firefighter was treated on-site for injuries but no other injuries were reported, according to Ogunquit Fire Department.
It appears the fire also caused some power outages in the area. At one point, CMP was reporting over 490 outages in Ogunquit Saturday night.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office.
