First Alert Weather: Some messy travel conditions on Monday
WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – Not as chilly on Sunday, with lots of clouds. A First Alert late Sunday night and Monday for a risk of spotty freezing drizzle, along with light snow and snow showers, which will create slippery roads in parts of the region. Although snowfall will be minor, be sure to allow extra time to reach your destination on Monday and travel with extra care. The clipper-type system producing this wintry weather exits the region by late Monday afternoon. Christmas Eve & Day will feature lots of clouds, and there will still be snow on the ground to call it a White Christmas. Good travel weather mid-week. The next weather maker is on the way for late week into next weekend. Rain and rain showers are anticipated, with temperatures rising close to 40 degrees for highs.
This last Sunday before Christmas will be quiet and not as cold in North Central Wisconsin. Considerable cloudiness, with highs on Sunday in the mid 20s.
Overcast Sunday night as the next winter weather maker shifts toward the Badger State. A First Alert that there is a chance of spotty freezing drizzle or snow showers toward morning. Temperatures Sunday night to daybreak Monday will be steady or slowly rising in the mid to upper 20s. Be aware of slippery roads for the morning commute on Monday.
The clipper system will track east through the area on Monday, with periods of light snow and snow showers. A First Alert for messy travel conditions from Monday morning to the late afternoon, including heading to Green Bay for the Packers game. The snow will taper off from west to east with accumulations ranging from a coating to around 1″ in the far north and south of Highway 10, while 1-3″ possible from south of Highway 8 to north of Highway 10. Highs on Monday are in the low to mid 30s.
Christmas Eve on Tuesday is mostly cloudy and mild with highs in the mid 30s. Good weather as Santa makes his rounds Christmas Eve night. Christmas Day keeps the clouds around, with afternoon temps reaching the mid 30s.
Thursday is mostly cloudy and still mild, with highs in the upper 30s.
The next weather maker arrives Friday with periods of rain, tapering to showers toward evening. Highs in the upper 30s to low 40s. Saturday is cloudy with showers possible. Highs in the low 40s. Mostly cloudy next Sunday with a chance of rain showers. Highs in the upper 30s to around 40.
