Fischer And Nelson Named To IIHF World Juniors Team
OTTAWA, Ontario – After a short week of camp with USA Hockey in Plymouth, Michigan, a pair of Irish sophomores have been named to the official Team USA roster for the upcoming 2025 IIHF World Junior Championships in Danny Nelson and Paul Fischer. The pair will compete, along with 23 others named to the final USA roster, for the chance a repeat gold in Ottawa, Ontario, December 26-January 5. Nelson is one of 10 members of this year’s roster to have won gold with the team in Sweden last year and Fischer is set to make his debut with the USA Hockey U20 team.
Nelson currently leads the Irish in goals, posting both goals for Notre Dame last weekend at Ohio State to improve his point total to 13 (8-5-13) and extend his point-streak to a career-best eight games.
Fischer currently ranks second on the team in assists with nine and is third among defensemen in points.
The pair get underway with Team USA next week with their first official game slated for a 2:30pm puck drop on Thursday, Dec. 26 against Germany.
