Fisher59 expansion coming to Lawton location, bringing more jobs in the process

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) – Beverage distribution company Fisher59 based out of Denton, Texas is investing over $16 million into their Lawton location for a new 110,000 square-foot warehouse.

President of the Lawton Economic Development Corporation Brad Cooksey expressed his gratitude to Fisher59 for choosing Lawton as the location for the new facility.

“Obviously they could have chosen to go to a couple different communities,” Cooksey said. “But the fact they decided on building that big facility here in Lawton to keep the jobs here and add to that job count all the while investing the amount of capital investment, that’s very good for our community.”

The expansion will nearly double the size of the current facility, and in the process Cooksey said it will eventually double the jobs as well.

“There’s around 60 employees who work within the system here locally,” Cooksey explained. “They’re going to obviously keep those people employed and they’re going to add upwards of 40 to 50 to 60 more over the next couple of years here.”

President of Fisher59 Properties Brett Walford is also looking forward to continuing the relationship between the company and the Lawton community.

“We’re excited about the construction of our new facility in Lawton,” Walford said in a press release. “As we approach our 40th year of operation in this community, we are proud to expand to better serve our customers and support local economic growth. Over the past 39 years, the support and partnership of the Lawton community have been instrumental in our success and we look forward to building on that relationship!”

Cooksey wants to assure the Lawton community that this expansion is a step in the right direction.

“This has been a group effort,” Cooksey said. “You know LEDC, we obviously brokered the deal for them. But there were several factors that went into that including the City of Lawton and LEDA as they helped with that. So it was a good team effort. So we’re proud to say this is another win for our community.”
