WYOMISSING, Pa. – Veterans took a walk and gathered around Country Meadows in Wyomissing to share stories in the name of Veterans Day.
The idea behind the walk was inspired by a resident at Country Meadows.
Fitness director Vi Schultz saw resident Dominic frequently at her exercise classes.
During those visits, he would tell stories of his time in the service.
That’s what drove Schultz to bring together Veterans in the community with Veterans at Country Meadows to walk and share stories.
But Veterans Day is also personal to Schultz and her family.
“My parents are from Vietnam, and they are refugees from the Vietnam War.. Therefore I am the first generation to be born here in this wonderful country. If it wasn’t for these brave men, I wouldn’t be here. So I owe them my freedom. I owe them everything,” said Vi Schultz, a fitness director at Country Meadows.
Studies show that exercise helps reduce the symptoms of PTSD, stress, and more for veterans.
