Fitness expert demos best ‘time under tension’ exercises
BALTIMORE, MD (WBFF) — Planet Fitness National lead Trainer Teddy Savage joins the shows today to demonstrate the best time under tension exercises anybody can do.
Savage emphasized the importance of these workouts by highlighting that you don’t always need the 15-rep exercises that can be exhausting, instead you can just place a muscle group under good forces, which will work just as well as an exhaustive workout.
A great time under tension workout that Savage recommends is the following:
-4-Count Squats
- Start with your feet about hip width-apart and hold your moderate weight dumbbells by your side.
- Hinge at your hips and bend your knees as you slowly lower yourself down to a 4-count.
- Come back up slowly to the same4-count.
- Perform 3 sets of 10 reps w/ :30 rest between.
-Goblet Pause Squats
- Bring your feet closer together and hold one dumbbell in between your hands.
- Lower yourself down to your deepest range of motion and hold it there for 3 counts before driving through your heels to return to start.
- Perform 3 sets of 10 reps w/ :30 rest between.
-Tempo Lunges
- Start in a staggered stance with the dumbbells in each hand.
- Lower yourself down to your fullest range of motion and bounce at the bottom of the motion without coming all theway back up until you’ve completed all reps in total.
- Perform 3 sets of 12 reps w/ :30 rest between.
