Kayla Itsines shocked her followers on Monday by revealing they had been pronouncing her surname incorrectly for years.
The fitness influencer, 32, shared a photo of her working out to her Instagram Stories and told her fans how it is really pronounced.
‘It’s IT-SEEN-ESS. This one is always so funny,’ she said.
Several of her followers then revealed some of the ways they had been mispronouncing her name over the years.
‘It-signs,’ one wrote, as a second person said they pronounced it ‘It-scenes’.

The Sweat founder married Jae Woodroffe in December after he popped the question in July 2022.
She and Woodroffe welcomed their first child together, a son named Jax, in January 2023.
In March, Itsines recalled the day she realised she needed to call off her engagement and break up with her ex-fiancé Tobi Pearce.

The fitness entrepreneur, who parted ways with the EzLicence CEO in 2020, with whom she shares a young daughter Arna, five, had remained tight-lipped about the separation until recent months.
Appearing on Mamamia’s No Filter podcast with Kate Langbroek, Itsines cited differences in personality between herself and Tobi, and said she had a gut feeling their relationship wasn’t working out.
‘Tobi is a great person, but he’s just not my person. It took time to realise that,’ she said.
Itsines previously made scathing remarks about Pearce, calling him ‘money-driven’ and their relationship a ‘battle’.
