CBS Sports Network’s continued coverage of the 2024 college football season features six games for the Week 10 slate, including a trio of weeknight battles ahead of a Saturday triple-header. Conference USA takes most of the spotlight, with three games throughout the week.

It all starts Tuesday night when New Mexico State travels to play FIU. On Wednesday, the Conference USA action keeps rolling when Liberty hosts Jacksonville State in a contest that will go a long ways towards deciding the final standings.

Friday night brings a fresh look between Georgia State and UConn, an intriguing nonconference clash with potential postseason implications — for the Huskies, at least. To kick off Saturday’s slate, Buffalo is trying to keep its Mid-American Conference hopes alive against Akron

During the midday slate, Conference USA is back when Middle Tennessee travels to UTEP, and the nightcap brings an interesting Mountain West Conference clash between Colorado State and Nevada

New Mexico State at FIU

Date: Tuesday, Oct. 29  | Time: 7 p.m.
Location: Pitbull Stadium — Miami, Florida
TV: CBS Sports Network [Channel finder

Spread: Louisiana Tech -9.5 | Will the Panthers cover? Check out SportsLine’s Week 10 projections here

New Mexico State is coming off a bye week, but it exited its last game on a high note. The Aggies downed Louisiana Tech 33-30 in overtime to pick up their first Conference USA win of the year. That also broke a five-game losing streak for New Mexico State, which hadn’t beaten an FBS opponent all year. FIU is in the midst of its own skid, having lost its last three games in a row. The good news for the Panthers is that they’ve been close; the average scoring margin in those losses was just over six points. That includes a seven-point loss to Liberty, a team that entered the 2024 season with College Football Playoff hopes.

Jacksonville State at Liberty

Date: Wednesday, Oct. 30 | Time: 7 p.m.
Location: Williams Stadium  — Lynchburg, Virginia
TV: CBS Sports Network [Channel finder
Live stream: CBSSports.com | Mobile: CBS Sports App (Free)
Spread: Liberty -1.5 | Will the Flames cover? Check out SportsLine’s Week 10 projections here

Speaking of Liberty, the Flames flamed out — spectacularly — in Week 9. Thanks in part to a weak schedule and surging Group of Five teams elsewhere, Liberty’s playoff hopes were looking scant early in the season. Now they’re non-existent thanks to a 27-24 loss to Kennesaw State — the same Kennesaw State that transitioned from the FCS in the offseason and had yet to win against an FBS program at this level. Liberty had looked rather uninspiring all year, underscored by narrow wins against the likes of New Mexico State and FIU, and it all caught up to the Flames. Jacksonville State, meanwhile, has followed a different trajectory. It was easy to write the Gamecocks off amid an 0-3 start to the 2024 campaign, but they’ve slowly battled their way to the top of the C-USA table with a 3-0 showing in league play thus far. A win against Liberty would still resonate.

Georgia State at UConn

Date: Friday, Nov. 1 | Time: 7 p.m.
Location: Pratt & Whitney Stadium — East Hartford, Connecticut
TV: CBS Sports Network [Channel finder
Live stream: CBSSports.com | Mobile: CBS Sports App (Free)
Spread: UConn -7.5 | Will the Huskies cover? Check out SportsLine’s Week 10 projections here

UConn is for real this year. The Huskies are just one win away from securing bowl eligibility for the second time in three years under coach Jim L. Mora. The Huskies haven’t made two bowl games in a three-year span since 2008-10. They’ll have a good chance to secure their postseason fate against Georgia State, though it won’t be easy. This is the same Panthers squad that beat Vanderbilt, after all. It’s been rough sledding since then, however. Georgia State is on a four-game losing streak and still searching for its first win in Sun Belt Conference play. In that span, the Panthers are averaging fewer than 21 points per game.

Buffalo at Akron

Date: Saturday, Nov. 2 | Time: Noon
Location: InfoCision Stadium — Akron, Ohio
TV: CBS Sports Network [Channel finder
Live stream: CBSSports.com | Mobile: CBS Sports App (Free)
Spread: Buffalo -1.5 | Will the Bulls cover? Check out SportsLine’s Week 10 projections here

The race for the Mid-American Conference Championship Game is going to come down to the wire. Buffalo’s right outside of the top pack with a 2-2 conference record thus far, but the Bulls are still within shouting distance. Obviously, their margin for error is thin, and they can’t avoid any slip-ups. They certainly can’t look past Akron, even if a 2-6 record suggests the Zips may not be the hardest opponent to face. Akron upset Eastern Michigan in Week 9, earning its first conference win while scoring a season-high (against FBS opponents, at least) 25 points.

Middle Tennessee at UTEP

Date: Saturday, Nov. 2 | Time: 3:30 p.m. ET
Location: Sun Bowl — El Paso, Texas
TV: CBS Sports Network [Channel finder
Live stream: CBSSports.com | Mobile: CBS Sports App (Free)
Spread: UTEP -3 | Will the Miners cover? Check out SportsLine’s Week 10 projections here

Though neither Middle Tennessee nor UTEP are involved in the Conference USA race, a win here would put either team firmly in the middle of the standings — for now, at least. The Blue Raiders and the Miners haven’t had a ton of success this year. They’re a combined 2-7 in conference play. MTSU’s only win came against Kennesaw State, while UTEP upset FIU a few weeks ago to give young coach Scotty Walden the first FBS win of his career. Don’t expect a ton of points. UTEP ranks eighth in Conference USA in scoring offense with 17 points per game, while Middle Tennessee isn’t far behind in ninth with 16.9 points per game.

Colorado State at Nevada

Date: Saturday, Nov. 2 | Time: 8 p.m. ET
Location: Mackay Stadium — Reno, Nevada
TV: CBS Sports Network [Channel finder
Live stream: CBSSports.com | Mobile: CBS Sports App (Free)
Spread: Colorado State -1 | Will the Rams cover? Check out SportsLine’s Week 10 projections here

Colorado State is, quietly, right in the thick of the Mountain West Conference race. While a lot of the focus has been on programs like No. 15 Boise State and UNLV, which earned its first AP ranking in program history earlier in the year, the Rams are off to a 3-0 start in league play and are one of just three teams, with the Broncos and San Diego State, that remain unblemished. Nevada is a polar opposite. It looked as if the Wolf Pack might be turning a corner with Oct. 12’s win against Oregon State, but they went on to lose two straight MWC games and, in Week 9, fell by 21 points to a Hawaii team that had yet to win a conference game.
