Five concerts, five continents

Joshua Bell is one of five Aspen Music Festival and School alumni who will be featured in performances that will be broadcast this week on medici.tv. He will perform with Steven Isserlis, Jeremy Denk, David Halen, and Zhenwei Shi at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 13 and with Jane Glover, Steven Isserlis and Jeremy Denk at 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 14.

Aspen Music Festival and School announced Monday that Paris-based medici.tv will stream five concerts happening this week to a global audience.

Medici.tv has an audience of millions of people on five continents. The selected concerts will take place at the Klein Music Tent and Harris Concert Hall and will feature alumni of Aspen’s training program.

According to a press release, Medeci.tv is known as the world’s premiere venue for broadcasting classical music, opera and ballet from some of the most prestigious festivals and concert halls around the world. They partner with festivals and institutions like the Verbier Festival, Vienna Philharmonic, Carnegie Hall and the London Philharmonic.

“Medici.tv truly only works with the best of the best and its production value is the highest,” said Laura Smith, AMFS vice president for marketing and communications, in a statement. “Joining the medici.tv network is a real acknowledgment of the level of work that goes on at the AMFS and how important it is to the world of music. Particularly special is that some of the very top performers we are featuring are our former students, which brings an element of extra depth to these streams in light of the fact this is AMFS’ 75th anniversary.”

In addition to the live streams, medici.tv will offer a glimpse behind the scenes at AMFS through five featurettes that will highlight the mentorship and connections that happen at the festival.

The artists being broadcast include Jeremy Denk on piano at 7:30 p.m. today (July 10);  Nicholas McGegan, Steven Isserlis and Aspen Festival Ensemble at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 11; Robert Spano, Kelley O’Connor, Joyce Yang and Aspen Chamber Symphony at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, July 12; Joshua Bell, Steven Isserlis, Jeremy Denk, David Halen and Zhenwei Shi at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 13 ; Jane Glover, Joshua Bell, Steven Isserlis, Jeremy Denk and Aspen Festival Orchestra at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 14.
