Five crashes plague Sunday travel in Capital city – WV MetroNews

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Inclement weather is blamed for multiple crashes Sunday afternoon in almost the same location near the I-64/77 split in Charleston.

Five accidents occurred near the Washington Street exit on I-64 west bound in Charleston. The wrecks included two separate crashes around 2:30 p.m. A third crash happened at 3:30 p.m. and then a fourth and fifth at 4:30 and 6:30 p.m.

The wrecks prompted a social media warning from the Charleston Police Department warning of slick driving conditions while the road was wet. The post urged motorists to slow down as they entered the curve on approach to the exit.

There were no reports of injuries tied to the crashes.
