Washington-Liberty High School has chosen six new members of its Sports Hall of Fame for the Class of 2025.
The inductees will be honored at the school in a ceremony on Jan. 24.
The new inductees are Catherine (Proctor) Coffman (Class of 1981, crew), Melba Griffin Martin (Class of 1966, water polo), Maycol Nunez (Class of 2016, boys soccer), Dan Pototsky (Class of 1977, baseball), Julio Rivas (Class of 1998, baseball) and Manny Rivas (Class of 1995, baseball).
Nunez helped the Washington-Liberty (then Washington-Lee) boys soccer team win a Virginia High School League state championship in 2016.
After playing baseball in college at the University of Kentucky where he was a two-time all-conference selection, Pototsky later returned as W-L’s head baseball coach for a number of years. As a player, he helped the Generals win a region championship and was chosen all-state.
He also has coached various youth teams, including taking Arlington Senior Babe Ruth squads to World Series appearances.
The Hall of Fame induction will be the second for Pototsky in recent months. He was inducted into the Arlington Sports Hall of Fame in October.
