BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Hurricane Beryl has been devastating the Caribbean as it continues to travel.

For those traveling to the area, there are likely hiccups along the way with such a massive storm.

Brooke Harrington, with Harrington Travel, is currently in Jamaica and directly in the path of the storm.

She said airports will be closed Wednesday when the impact will be felt the most in the area.

“This could potentially impact travel of people going to the Yucatan and Mexico. And it’s something that we’re monitoring,” said Harrington.

She mentioned staff and officials in Montego Bay, where she is staying, are keeping guests updated and safe.

“They’re starting to board up and they’re getting updates twice a day with the Jamaican Ministry. I feel like they’re going above and beyond. I’m very impressed with what I’ve seen so far,” Harrington said.

She ultimately said it’s up to the consumer to determine whether or not the trip will be safe.

“I follow a lot of weather patterns and stuff as a travel advisor and we used our best judgment and know that we’re in good hands here and doing the best that we can,” Harrington said.
