Football Travels to Bucknell on Saturday – Fordham University Athletics

BRONX, N.Y. – The Fordham University Rams continue the 2024 season, Fordham’s 124th varsity season, by traveling to Lewisburg, Pa., to face the Bucknell University Bison for a Patriot League contest at Christy Mathewson Memorial Stadium on Saturday, November 9, 1:00 p.m.
The game will be televised live on ESPN+ with Joe Vasile (p-b-p) and Charlie Fisher (analyst) announcing and broadcast live the WFUV YouTube channel with Lou Orlando (p-b-p) and Evan Harkin (analyst) handling the announcing chores.
Fordham enters the game with a 1-8 overall, 1-3 in the Patriot League, after a 20-24 Patriot League win over Colgate at Moglia Stadium last Saturday, while Bucknell enters the contest with a 4-5 overall record, 2-1 in the Patriot League, after a 21-14 League win over Lafayette at Mathewson Stadium last week.
Saturday’s game will be the 40th meeting between Fordham and Bucknell on the gridiron. Fordham leads the all-time series, which started in 1929, 21-18, and has taken the past eleven meetings, including a 27-21 victory last November 4 at Moglia Stadium as CJ Montes completed 18 of 33 passes for 328 yards and four touchdowns with MJ Wright catching seven passes for 145 yards and one score.
A few notes on the game:
• The Fordham Rams have thrown the second most touchdown passes of any NCAA FCS school over the past three years.
• The Rams threw a school-record 58 scoring strikes in 2022 (56 of those from Tim DeMorat who set a school and Patriot League record), had 26 from quarterback CJ Montes last year, and have five this year for a total of 89.
• Fordham senior linebacker James Conway has 425 total tackles, tying Ryan Greenhagen‘s Fordham career record.
• Conway needs seven tackles to tie the Patriot League mark.
• Conway was named a finalist for the FedEx Doris Robinson Award this week, an award that honors an FCS student-athlete who exemplifies excellence on the field, in the classroom and across the community.
• Fordham senior running back Julius Loughridge, who has rushed for more than 100 yards three times this year, has 2,848 career rushing yards, sixth on the Fordham all-time rushing list.
• Loughridge also has 25 career rushing touchdowns, tied for seventh all-time for the Rams.
• Grad student defensive back Nahil Perkins is tied for second in the NCAA FCS in passes defended, averaging 1.6/game.
• Senior defensive lineman Matt Jaworski leads the Patriot League and is tied for seventh in tackles for loss/game (1.6).
• Jaworski has 41.0 career TFLs, fourth all-time at Fordham, and 19.5 career sacks, sixth all-time at Fordham.
• Perkins is also tied for third in the nation in interceptions, picking off five passes in 2024.
• Freshman kicker Bennett Henderson has converted his last five field goal attempts, three of those for more than 40 yards, and has now made good on seven of his nine three-point attempts this year.
• Fordham senior linebacker James Conway, senior defensive lineman Matt Jaworski, and junior quarterback CJ Montes were named 2024 Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America Team.
• Fordham is represented by six captains in 2024: senior defensive lineman Matt Jaworski, grad student wide receiver Mekai Felton, grad student offensive linemen Ryan Joyce (who is serving as a captain for the second straight year), grad student defensive back Nahil Perkins, and grad student linebacker Mike Courtney.
• Two former Fordham football Rams are currently on NFL rosters. Running back Chase Edmonds, who was drafted in the fourth round by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2018 draft, is a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but will miss the 2024 season due to injury while offensive lineman Nick Zakelj, who was selected in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft by the San Francisco and enters his third year with the 49ers.
