Rams looking to bring home Ram Crusader Cup

BRONX, N.Y. – The Fordham University Rams continue the 2024 season, Fordham’s 124th varsity season, by traveling to Worcester, Mass., to take on the College of the Holy Cross Crusaders for a Patriot League game on Fitton Field on Saturday, October 12, 1:00 p.m.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Kevin Gehl (p-b-p) and Kevin Shea (analyst) announcing and broadcast live on WFUV (90.7 FM) and wfuvsports.org with Lou Orlando (p-b-p) and Evan Harkin (analyst) handling the announcing chores.
Fordham enters the game with an 0-6 overall, 0-1 in the Patriot League, record after a 28-23 Patriot League loss to Lafayette at Moglia Stadium last week, while Holy Cross enters the contest with a 2-3 overall record, 1-0 in the Patriot League, after a 38-7 League win at Colgate last Saturday.
Saturday’s game will be the 62nd meeting between Fordham and Holy Cross on the gridiron. The Crusaders lead the all-time series, which started in 1902, 34-25-2, including a 49-47 win last year on October 28 at Moglia Stadium as Jonathan Fuller rushed for 116 yards and two scores and Joe Pesansky completed 20 of 33 passes for 337 yards and three scores and a two-point conversion failed for the Rams with under a minute remaining.
A few notes on the game:
• The game will be the annual Ram-Crusader Cup contest. The two teams have been battling for the trophy since 1951.
• This will be Fordham’s first game on natural grass since a game at Holy Cross in 2022.
• The Fordham Rams have thrown the second most touchdown passes of any NCAA FCS school over the past three years.
• The Rams threw a school-record 58 scoring strikes in 2022 (56 of those from Tim DeMorat who set a school and Patriot League record), had 26 from quarterback CJ Montes last year, and have four this year for a total of 88.
• The 2024 Fordham football squad will play four of its first five, and five of the first seven, games on the road.
• The last time the Rams played four of the first five games on the road was 2011.
• Fordham senior linebacker James Conway has 400 total tackles, third on the Fordham career list.
• Fordham senior running back Julius Loughridge, who has rushed for more than 100 yards in two of his three games of 2024, has 2,566 career rushing yards, seventh on the Fordham all-time rushing list.
• Loughridge also has 22 career rushing touchdowns, ninth all-time for the Rams.
• Fordham senior linebacker James Conway, senior defensive lineman Matt Jaworski, and junior quarterback CJ Montes were named 2024 Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America Team.
• Fordham is represented by six captains in 2024: senior defensive lineman Matt Jaworski, grad student wide receiver Mekai Felton, grad student offensive linemen Ryan Joyce (who is serving as a captain for the second straight year), grad student defensive back Nahil Perkins, and grad student linebacker Mike Courtney.
• Two former Fordham football Rams are currently on NFL rosters. Running back Chase Edmonds, who was drafted in the fourth round by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2018 draft, is a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but will miss the 2024 season due to injury while offensive lineman Nick Zakelj, who was selected in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft by the San Francisco and enters his third year with the 49ers.
