Forbes Announces 22nd Annual Global 2000 A Ranking Of The World’s Largest Companies

NEW YORKJune 13, 2024: Forbes today releases its 22nd annual edition of the Global 2000, a definitive ranking of the largest companies in the world based on sales, profits, assets and market value.

“The annual Forbes Global 2000 list is a reflection of the biggest global companies that are moving markets, as well as industries that are growing and trending,” says Hank Tucker, staff writer, Forbes. “This year’s list is a nod to how global markets are integrated into one another and the continued trend of AI as semiconductor firms flourished and climbed up the ranks.”

Companies on the 2024 Global 2000 list amassed new records with $51.7 trillion in revenue, $4.5 trillion in profit, $238 trillion in assets and $88.5 trillion in market cap. Contributing to these numbers was a total of 61 countries represented on the list, an increase compared to last year. The United States leads with 621 companies on the list, the most since 2007, China and Hong Kong who follow with 324, followed by Japan with 181, India with 71 and the United Kingdom with 66.

For the second year in a row, J.P. Morgan Chase remains in the No.1 spot while Berkshire Hathaway jumps up to No.2 and rejoins the top 10 after dropping to No. 338 on the 2023 list after posting a $22.8 billion loss due to market volatility.

Rounding out the top 5 is last year’s runner-up, Saudi Aramco, who dropped to No 3 followed by Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (No. 4) and Bank of America (No. 5).

Newcomers to this year’s list include General Electric’s spinoff clean energy business, GE Verona, which had the highest debut this year at No. 680 Notably, AI-focused tech company, Super Micro Computers, also joins the list at No.856 as its stock price skyrocketed up 270%, as of May 17.

AI companies continue to soar in revenue as most semiconductor companies saw increases in all four metrics for this year’s list. Intel is up 315 spots to No. 107 this year, the big boost primarily from profits rebounding after being in the red last year. All four metrics for NVIDIA
SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF Trust
are up over last year, with its market cap up nearly 230% since 2023. Airlines also saw an uptick in profits– Delta Airlines is up over 100 spots landing at No. 234.
