Former-AT&T Business CEO Joins CSX Corp.’s Board of Directors
Former Dallas-based AT&T Business CEO Anne Chow has been appointed to the board of directors of Jacksonville, Florida-based transportation company CSX Corp.
CSX made the announcement at its annual shareholders meeting, at which all 11 of the company’s director nominees were re-elected to one-year terms and Chow was appointed.
Joe Hinrichs, president and chief executive officer of CSX, praised Anne Chow’s “distinguished career marked by progressive leadership” and her “extensive background in customer service and technology,” which aligns with CSX’s vision for growth and innovation.
He added, “We are honored to have her join our team” as they advance their strategy to generate profitable growth and enhance the employee and customer experience.
Chow is the founder and chief executive officer of The Rewired CEO, a firm that is dedicated to helping leaders unleash potential and drive growth by establishing connections and fostering a thriving organizational culture.
CSX said that Chow brings extensive experience from her 32-year tenure at AT&T, where she served in multiple leadership roles — including three years as CEO of AT&T Business — before retiring in 2022.
Leadership and sustained success
As CEO, Chow led a $35 billion global operating unit providing cutting-edge communication and networking solutions worldwide, CSX said. Her leadership comprised the development and implementation of a comprehensive business portfolio that included fiber optics, wireless technologies, cloud services, 5G, IoT, and cybersecurity, among other solutions.
CSX said that Chow has excelled in pivotal leadership roles, driving success across diverse domains such as network engineering, product management, customer service, operations, strategic planning, marketing, and sales. Her achievements have earned industry accolades, including twice being named to the Fortune Most Powerful Women in Business list, recognized on Forbes’ CEO Next roster, and most recently being inducted into the Dallas Business Hall of Fame.
The company said that her dedication to fostering excellence extends to her active involvement on various boards and community organizations. Chow currently serves as lead director on the board of Franklin Covey and is also on the board of 3M. In addition to her board commitments, Chow is a senior fellow and adjunct professor of executive education at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management. She also serves on the Georgia Tech President’s Advisory Board and the Dallas Mavericks Advisory Council.
CSX said that Chow’s appointment builds on the leadership that drove the company to achieve volume growth and strong safety and service performance in 2023 amid challenging economic conditions and sets the stage for sustained success as the company charts its course for the future.
CSX provides rail, intermodal, and rail-to-truck transload services and solutions to customers across a wide variety of markets, including energy, industrial, construction, agricultural, and consumer products.
