Former Campbell star QB Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele leaves Oregon for Cal
Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele is taking his talents to Berkeley after all.
The former Campbell High star quarterback flipped from Cal to Oregon on signing day in December, but reversed course in recent days as he first entered the transfer portal, then committed to the Golden Bears once more on Sunday.
Sagapolutele made the announcement in conjunction with On3 on Instagram.
The Ewa Beach native was the highest-profile recruit out of Hawaii for the 2025 class. Sagapolutele graduated from Campbell early and enrolled in school in Eugene, Ore., in December, necessitating entry into the portal when he decided to leave the Ducks, whose season ended to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl.
He became Hawaii’s all-time passing yardage leader in the OIA playoffs and finished with 10,653 yards, surpassing former Mililani High standout Dillon Gabriel by 600 yards and in five fewer varsity games, per Hawaii Prep World records.
His decorated prep career ended with a loss to eventual champion Saint Louis in the HHSAA Open Division semifinals when he got injured in the first half, falling two games short of leading the Sabers to their first top-tier state title.
