Fortune 500: See which Northeast Ohio companies made the 2024 list

Every year, Fortune releases its list of the U.S.’s 500-largest companies based on revenue, and this year’s list includes multiple Northeast Ohio-based businesses.

Akron-based Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. and FirstEnergy Corp. landed at spots 204 and 331, respectively. Goodyear, with $20 billion in revenue, moved down 13 places in the list compared with 2023, and FirstEnergy, with $12.5 billion in revenue, moved up 13 spots.

The J.M. Smucker Company, based in Orrville and reporting $8.5 billion in revenue, moved up 19 places to 446. And Medina-headquartered RPM International, reporting $7.3 billion in revenues, made the list at 492. In 2023, RPM placed at 526 on the Fortune 1000 list.

Cleveland-area companies make 2024 Fortune 500

Looking at businesses based in Greater Cleveland, six made the 2024 Fortune 500 list. They are:

  • Progressive, headquartered in Mayfield – 62
  • Sherwin-Williams, Cleveland – 176
  • Cleveland-Cliffs, Cleveland – 185
  • Parker Hannifin, Cleveland – 216
  • KeyCorp, Cleveland – 386
  • Avery Dennison, Mentor – 450

Fortune 1000 also includes two North Canton-based companies

Nine more Northeast Ohio businesses are on the 2024 Fortune 1000 list. These include two North Canton-based companies: Timken at number 663 and Diebold Nixdorf at 779.

The other Northeast Ohio businesses in the Fortune 1000 are Cleveland-based TransDigm Group at 537, Applied Industrial Technologies at 696, Lincoln Electric Holdings at 722, Hyster-Yale at 733 and Medical Mutual of Ohio at 773; Avon Lake-based Avient at 863; and Westlake-based Nordson at 972.
